They are not ready, now what?

I would like to share with you today a common problem that many of us have when it comes to sharing the Gospel with others and what to do about it. Many times we try to share the truth of Jesus Christ with someone and they are not ready to receive the message and they choose to turn you away or separate themselves from you. However, I want to encourage everyone to read this message today because if it happened to Jesus Christ himself, it can and will happen to us as well. When Jesus went to the country of Gadarenes and released the demons from the person they were possessing into pigs, once the crowds of people heard about this miracle they asked Jesus to leave their region (Matthew 8:28-34). The people were not ready and decided to choose their “sin nature” over the gift of freedom that can only be found in Jesus Christ. You see, just like the people of Gadarenes, there are many people today who can see the miracle of Jesus Christ working in and through us but are not ready to receive His message.

“Now what” you may ask yourself. Well, at first if you do not succeed, do not completely dust your sandals off just yet. Jesus wants us to not give up on any of His lost sheep. The only way that we can be worth is to carry our cross and keep trying to reach those who are not ready to be reached through our actions. The best way to help someone be ready to accept Christ into their lives is to be an ambassador of Christ. This means to pray for them, show mercy and compassion for their circumstances (still being in their sin nature), and when the time is right God will give you the opportunity to guide them to Himself. Do not be anxious about when that time comes you won’t know what to say because Jesus has already taught us that when that time comes He will put the words in our mouth that very moment, and you will know it is not you but the Holy Spirit working through you (Matthew 10:19-20). We just need to be willing to be patient, loving, and understanding. The rest will come into place.

No one said that this process would be fast nor easy. However, it is required to help reach those who are just not ready yet to receive the Gospel into their lives. So, I encourage everyone reading this today to “be” the Gospel. Remember that we used to be eaten up in our old “sin nature” and that we still battle it on a daily basis. It is human nature (sin nature) to go against the Spirit and try to walk according to our own will. However, understanding this fact and the people you are wanting to reach where once standing in your shoes will help you be patient with them. I know God was patient with us and we must be patient with the people that He places in our path. Remember, if not us then who? If we are not willing to put in the hard work and dedication it takes to save one soul at a time then are we truly carrying our cross with Christ? This simple question should help guide and motivate us while enduring the waiting process.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you provide us with the wisdom and knowledge that we need to be your laborers. The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. By understanding this simple fact I pray that we can have the courage to share your Gospel with those around us and to be patient when they are not eagerly receiving your message. I pray that you allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through us in a manner that you and you alone will be glorified when we bring someone to Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!
